Epistemology is the branch of philosophy that is concerned with the nature, source and scope of knowledge. In Islamic theology, epistemology plays a crucial role in explaining the justification of belief.

Over the last two years, the Beyond Foundationalism project at the Cambridge Muslim College has explored the history of Islamic epistemology in conversation with other theistic traditions.

This in-person international symposium, Imagining Islamic Epistemology for the 21st Century, will be in Cambridge, on 2-3 July 2022.  The symposium will convene a group of world-class scholars working in epistemology and Islam to map out the field of Islamic analytic epistemology for the 21st century.
