Challenge yourself this Summer and take on the Wilf Walk for St Wilfrid’s Hospice.

On Saturday 22nd June, join your fellow walkers and breathe in the spectacular views of the South Downs in our supported 8, 11, 19 or 30 mile walk, all whilst raising vital funds for local hospice care.

Whether you are a wannabe walker, a rookie rambler, or a hardened hiker, everyone  is welcome to take part. Following the South Downs Way from Ditchling Beacon, through Southease and Alfriston to finish on the sunshine coast in Eastbourne, the route is broken down into three stages; take on as many as you want to brave, with the option to up your distance if you’re feeling full of energy on the day.

In return, we will provide easy-to-follow routes and support along the way from the Wilf Walk Checkpoint Crews. Whatever level of challenge you choose, there are stunning views to enjoy, a great sense of achievement to savour and a special Wilf Walk medal to collect at the finish.

Register now and make a difference to the lives of others in your community.

  • Ditchling Beacon to Southease    11 miles / 17.7km
  • Southease to Alfriston    8 miles / 12km
  • Alfriston to Eastbourne    11 miles /17.7km
  • TOTAL 30 miles / 47km

The cost of entry includes route instructions, refreshments en route and at the finish line, access to first aid if necessary, a St Wilfrid’s T-shirt and a Wilf Walk 2024 commemorative medal upon completion.

We encourage participants to walk in pairs or groups for safety reasons. Don’t worry if you’re signing up as a solo walker, we’ll ensure you’re walking with others.

We’re asking participants to aim to raise £118 in sponsorship through this challenging event. This amount could cover the cost of a Nurse’s care on our Inpatient Unit, or out in the community, for one day. A fundraising pack full of fundraising tips and resources will be sent to all participants to help you reach your target.

Events such as Wilf Walk help us to provide end of life care and support to the people in our community who need it, as well as supporting their families, friends and carers at what can be a difficult time. It costs over £19,000 a day to run the hospice and provide its services, so every pound raised is especially vital.

Thank you so much for your continued support and we really hope to have you as part of the Wilf Walk team for a walk to make a difference this June.

Thank you to Eastbourne Gardens Care Home - Avery Collection for sponsoring Wilf Walk 2024!
