This Girl Codes Heritage Hack February Half-Term

Join Junction Arts at This Girl Codes Heritage Hack this February half term. 

This Girl Codes is a program of activities led by artists that explores science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM) through creativity.

Tickets include both Tuesday and Thursday activities – they come as a pair! Please only book if you can attend both days.

Tuesday 20th February

Curious Creatures at Creswell Crags

In the first of this two-part workshop, we'll journey into the pre-historic world of Creswell Crags, we’ll visit Mother Grundy’s cave and use myths, stories, and ice-age animals to inspire our imaginations. Led by local poet Tyler Turner, we'll create poems and stories, while artist Rachel Scanlon will help us craft UV glowing sculptures.

Arrival at Creswell Crags: 10:00am

Tour of Robin Hood's cave: 10:15

End: 3pm

Thursday 22nd February Bolsover Assembly Hall

Build your Beasts in Bolsover

In the second workshop day we will create 3D models of the unique creatures created in Tuesday’s workshop. We will use electronics and Touch Board technology to make your creatures talk!

Arrival at Bolsover Assembly Hall: 10:00am

End: 3pm

We are requesting a small booking fee of £6 per person for both workshops, adults and children (recommended) 7 or older to guarantee your space on the day. Please contact Junction Arts on [email protected] if fees are an issue, we will be discreet and can offer subsidised charges. 


T&C’s:
Due to the nature of the content, we recommend This Girl Codes for children aged 7 or older and adults. Children under 5 cannot go on cave tours. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult/guardian. Staff and artists are DBS checked so over 12s can be left with the project team however we ask that you contact [email protected] to let us know after booking your ticket.

We will be outside at Creswell Crags in the morning so please wear appropriate clothing and footwear for the weather.

The project is called This Girl Codes but workshops are open to people of all genders.

Accessibility Information: Caves do not have wheelchair access and are accessed via steps, there are also steps inside the caves. Children under 5 years old cannot go on cave tours. Dogs and access dogs are not allowed in the caves. Bolsover Assembly Hall is wheelchair accessible, there are disabled parking spaces and disabled toilets. We will be using the ground floor room and will be working with a small number of participants.
