THE 2025 WEALD CHALLENGE HALF MARATHON 8 JUNE 2025

From 1st January 2025 prices will be £37 with a competition licence and £39 without a competition licence.
The Weald Challenge is a trail half marathon from the village of Chiddingly, Sussex in June each year, although the route is actually 22km. The route is based around parts of the Wealdway and Vanguard Way. This is a lovely run through the beautiful Sussex countryside and with a relaxed time limit of 5 hours is suitable for a wide range of abilities. There are two checkpoints where water is available, at approx 9km and 16km. At the start/finish there is full first aid cover, indoor baggage store and free refreshments.

Changes for 2025
Following from the first event put on by Uckfield Runners in 2024 we will be making a number of improvements for the 2025 event from our own experience and from feedback
1. Course mark up. A number of runners went wrong due to insufficient course marking. This was in part due to Graham who had worked out the planned course signage in some detail by walking the course beforehand being unable to assist in marking up the course due to an injury and being on crutches prior to the event. The course signage will be more comprehensive this year.
2. Chip timing and start. To facilitate chip timing the course will now start on the School car park. This will make the course about 200metres longer so it will be about 22.2km: so you get a bonus 1.2k over the half marathon distance!
This will also allow us to have waves to mitigate the congestion in early stages of the race. Accordingly there will be 3 tiers based on estimated finish time with 5 minutes between each tier. So the first tier will go at 9:15am and the last tier at 9:25am.
