The London Walk is a night walk through London. Starting and finishing near Trafalgar Square with a variety of distances available for people. From a 10k to marathon.

Places cost £25 each and the fundraising targets are £150 for the 10k, £250 for half marathon and £350 for the marathon length. All funds raised will go to your favourite homeless charity or walk for us the London Homeless Collective and support the city as a whole.

Walking through the night offers an opportunity for reflection on the experience of people who are homeless. Not just people who are forced to sleep on the streets but those who walk through the night, travel on night buses or access 24 hour retail sites in order to stay awake and stay safe. In particular young people, trans people and women, who are all especially vulnerable to violence and exploitation.

WHAT IS THE LONDON HOMELESS COLLECTIVE?

The London Homeless Collective is a movement of more than 25 charities that help people experiencing homelessness in London. Each of the member charities reflect the needs and diversity of the city.

Some are committed to campaigning and housing rights, while others focus on outreach in local communities, or supporting people with specific needs. As a collective, we work from the pavement through to policy to find solutions that work.

The London Homeless Collective share ideas, experience, and opportunities, and work together to ensure that nobody is left behind. We fundraise together for the greater good, because together we are stronger.

You can read more about us here.

The walk is open to all charities supporting people experiencing homelessness in London. If a charity you want to walk for isn’t listed here then please get in touch.

FAQS

Can I bring my dog? Yes – well behaved dogs are extremely welcome.

Can I do it on roller skates? Yes if you really want to but please keep time with the walkers.

Can I run it? The event is designed as a walk for everyone to walk as one. There are other events for runners.

Will there be toilets? There are toilets available at the venue and each loop of 10k comes back there. Public toilets remain closed across London and we are working with the GLA to open them again, at least for the night of the walk.

Will there be refreshments? There will be snacks, water and squash provided throughout the night and a breakfast for marathon walkers on their return.

Will the roads be closed? No we will not be closing the roads for this event.

Will I be safe? The event is being run by an experienced company called Adventure Café, they provide plenty of support for the night and have staff on bikes following the route. There is also a marker at the start and the front. They look after participants extremely well.

What should I wear? Comfortable shoes and warm clothes, ideally ones that you can layer.
