The Fraserburgh Big Dook

The Fraserburgh Big Dook taking place near the Beach Café is a fun, community-led swim event that's been three years in the planning.
Inspired by the growing popularity of cold-water swimming and the spirited local swim groups along the Moray Coast, the idea was born from a light-hearted conversation between local staff members, Miriam Kemp and Michael Watt. They thought it would be "a laugh" to get people together for a dook, whilst raising important funds that go directly to supporting fishermen and their families in the local area.
The Fishermen's Mission provide vital welfare, emergency, and practical support to those who work in one of the UK’s most dangerous industries.
Whether you're a seasoned sea swimmer or just up for doing something “a bit wild for a laugh,” we’d love you to join us.
Entry is a minimum donation of £10, and participants can also set up their own fundraising pages to raise even more if desired.
Not only will you be 'splashing out' for fishermen in need, you'll also earn a medal for completing a lap between the buoys (10 metres apart in waist-deep water). There’ll be a cup of tea and a sticky bun waiting for you on the beach!
