Sponsored Crochet

Are you a crocheter, or interested in craft? Here's how you can use your skills to raise money for charity.

An event that runs over 2 weeks (10th-23rd October) where you challenge yourself to make as many scarves/a scarf that's as long as possible in the 2 week period. All whilst raising money for Carers' Support East Kent.

Carers' Support East Kent is a local charity that provides approximately 8,000 Carers per year with information and support. Carers are people who are unpaid and care for a friend or relative who, due to physical or mental illness, age related difficulties, disability or an addiction cannot manage without support.

By participating in this sponsored crochet you are raising money for Carers' Support East Kent and helping us to support local unpaid Carers throughout their caring role.

As part of this sponsored crochet you will have 2 weeks, between the 10th and 23rd October to make scarves! Challenge yourself to make a scarf as long as possible in 2 weeks; or maybe you want to make as many scarves as you can in the 2 week period! However you want to challenge yourself. We will email you with a scarf pattern and encouragement throughout the 2 weeks to keep crocheting!

Create your own fundraising page where people can donate to your project online and the proceeds automatically get sent to Carers' Support East Kent to make collections much easier on you or link them to this fundraising page so they can donate and sponsor you here.

We are teaming up with Unravel and Unwind CIC, which is a local, family run craft shop based in Gillingham, to help bring you this event. They are supporting us by making a video tutorial of the scarf pattern as well as graciously providing us with a discount code to use on materials for this sponsored crochet. (The code will be sent out to you once you have signed up to the event).

Some ideas of what to do with the scarves created as part of this event are as follows:

  • Keep your makes to stay warm this winter
  • Give them as gifts to friends and family
  • Sell them online and donate the proceeds
  • Donate them to local charity shops
  • Donate them to local homeless shelters
  • Stitch them together to make a blanket
