Skills for Facilitating SPHE - 2 Day Training - Post Primary
The aim of this training is to support post primary teachers to develop the skills, competencies and dispositions/attitudes for effective teaching and learning in Junior Cycle SPHE.
Aims:
- Participants / teachers will examine the most up-to-date HSE Resources (Units of Learning) to support teaching and learning in Junior cycle SPHE.
- Participants / Teachers will learn how to create a safe classroom environment that facilitates respectful and participative learning in SPHE.
- Participants / Teachers will engage with a range of teaching and learning methodologies that support effective SPHE.
- Participants / Teachers will develop the facilitation skills needed to support students to develop the behaviours, attitudes and values that support wellbeing.
Please note that this training does not focus on time allocation to SPHE or planning and assessment of SPHE within the new 2023 SPHE specification. This is addressed in 'An Introduction to the updated Specification for the NCCA Short Course in SPHE (2023)' provided by the Oide ( formerly CSL, JCT NIPT & PDST) – please visit www.oide.ie for training dates on same.

- Substitution cover is available for this course. Substitution claims can be made after the course has been completed through the Online System, using the code 'Professional Development 2'. Only teachers on the Dept of Educations payroll will be able to make these claims.
- Travel expenses are not available for this course
