The lifesaving journey

We're challenging you and your team to take on a lifesaving journey. The first step in finding a lifesaving match for someone with blood cancer is adding more potential lifesavers to the registry.

All swab kits returned in the UK end up at our office in Chiswick, London, where the swabs are logged and packed off to our state-of-the-art labs in Germany for testing.  Once tested, the potential donor details are added to the global stem cell registry.

This September, we need YOU and your team to get them there - whether you're cycling, running, walking, swimming, rolling, skating or scooting!

Learning about DKMS

While you virtually travel from our offices in Chiswick to our labs in Dresden, Germany, you'll learn more about the history of stem blood stem cell transplants, meet some amazing lifesavers and meet those whose lives have been saved. All in all, the journey will cover 1,093 miles across Europe! You can do this all from your own home, or wherever you like to move. Simply hook up your Strava to your fundraising page or log your distance travelled manually and watch as you travel along the map, around Europe and ultimately end your journey at the DKMS Life Science Labs in Dresden, Germany.

Form a team or go it alone

You don't need to take on this challenge alone - 1,093 miles is a long way! Join together with your friends, family, colleagues, teammates or neighbours, or join one of the DKMS teams, to make the journey together. We need to get our swabs to the labs as quickly as possible, so we can find more lifesaving donors for those in need. You have from 1 to 30 September to complete the journey.

How to enter

Entry is £10. All participants will receive virtual medals and social media shareables; the first 100 people to raise more than £100 will receive a DKMS t-shirt.

It costs DKMS £40 to register each potential lifesaver, and, as we don't get funding from the government to do this, we rely on our amazing fundraisers to cover this cost. So all the sponsorship you raise from completing the challenge will help us add more people to the blood stem cell registry. Sign up now and give more people with blood cancer a second chance at life!
