Stabilisation & Transfer of the Acutely unwell Neonate (STAN)
Because winging it is not a plan.
2 days · High-fidelity simulations · Confidence that travels
Next course: 10-11 October 2026
Venue: TBC (London)
STAN is a two-day, immersive course for clinicians who move sick babies. You will rehearse the entire journey – from first phone call to final handover – alongside faculty who do this work for real, every week.
Why STAN?
|
💡 |
Practise the whole journey |
From referral to handover, you will rehearse every decision, in order, with coaching at each step. The aim is simple: no surprises on the day you need it. |
|
🚑 |
Feel the motion |
You will train in immersive clinical scenarios – including inside an ambulance with all its cramped awkwardness – because real babies jiggle, alarms sound and space is tight. Your muscle memory should match reality. |
|
🤝 |
Join an elite network |
Over 300 alumni across the UK and internationally form a brain trust you can tap into tomorrow. You leave with skills, shared language and a community that will answer the 02:00 questions. |
Picture this…
It’s 02:14. A term infant crashes in a hospital without a massive tertiary medico-surgical NICU.
You respond. You stabilise. Your handovers are crisp.
The baby is safely transferred and the parents know this is the best they could have asked for.
You didn’t improvise.
You rehearsed it, step-by-step, last month at STAN.

FAQ
“I’m new to transport - will I cope?”
Yes. The programme ramps from fundamentals to more complex scenarios. You will never be thrown in at the deep end without support. Faculty coach you through each stage so you build confidence, not just adrenaline
“I already do transfers - what’s in it for me?”
You will stress-test your current practice against national and international best practice, run advanced crisis resource management (CRM) drills and refine how you lead, brief, debrief and make decisions under pressure. The intent is that you go back sharper – clinically and operationally.
