Rock Your Socks 2025
1 March 2025 - 31 March 2025
Rock Your Socks
Rock your Socks for Mencap this March to raise awareness and vital funds to support people with a learning disability across the UK.
Down syndrome, is just one of many different types of learning disability. Most people have two copies of chromosome 21, while those with three copies of chromosome 21 have Down syndrome.
If you look very closely under a microscope the extra chromosome people with Down syndrome have, looks like a tiny sock, which is why we celebrate World Down Syndrome Day on 21 March each year and encourage people to Rock Your Socks!
Whether the socks you wear are strippy, spotty, snazzy or funky, the money you raise, will help us continue to support people with a learning disability.
- £100 could help provide access to sport and recreational activities so people with a learning disability can socialise and break the loneliness and isolation they face.
- £250 could help us influence utility companies and banks so they provide vital information in a clear and simple way so people with a learning disability understand the impact the cost of living crisis will have on them.
- £425 could cover the cost of running our information and advice services for an hour.
- £1,000 could help us campaign to ensure that those people with a learning disability who are eligible for social care are able to access the vital support that is available.
