To ensure Candlelighters raise enough from the events to cover our costs and then fund the many support services we provide for families, we need participants to raise the minimum fundraising target amount for each event. If you want to support us but aren’t sure if you’ll be able to reach the target, please do get in touch with us for a chat and we’ll help find the best way for you to support us.

By taking on a challenge event for Candlelighters, you’ll be joining #TeamCandlelighters and making a difference to children and families. As part of #TeamCandlelighters, you will receive a fundraising pack and support from our fundraising team, a technical running t-shirt or Vest, and access to our #TeamCandlelighters Facebook group where members can share tips, ask questions and get support. Former Leeds Rhinos player Rob Burrow was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in December 2019. Since then, Rob and his family have campaigned tirelessly to raise awareness and funds to support other families living with MND.
The first Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon saw over 10,000 participants take the street of Leeds, taking in some of the city's most scenic countryside and outer suburbs, the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon will be a fitting tribute to the city that launched Rob’s career and which he called home.
This is an event that truly is for everyone, so whether you are an experienced runner or have never thought about running an event before, we welcome all abilities to join us for this very special event.
