Join Hampshire Wildlife Trust Community Officer, Steve Bolton, for a training session on pollinator monitoring surveys.

Who can attend?

The training is aimed at volunteers who wish to help monitor pollinating insects in their local greenspaces. Prior experience is not essential- the count focuses on insect groups rather than detailed species identification, making it accessible to beginners.

The Survey

The surveys offer a simple way of monitoring abundance and diversity of pollinating insects over time on a specific site. When repeated on a regular basis the data is useful as it gives you a picture of whether abundance and diversity is decreasing, staying the same, or increasing over time. This can help inform management of the site.

Background Information

More detail on the survey is provided on https://www.hants.gov.uk/thingstodo/countryside/get-involved/pollinator-pledge/community-groups/toolkit
