What is the One Big Walk challenge?

There are 1.5 million people in the UK with a learning disability. We’d like you to use that number to raise awareness and set your own One Big Walk challenge! How about…

  • a gentle 1.5 mile walk over 2 weeks.
  • an ambitious 15 miles in one day.
  • a total distance of 150 miles walked across the whole of September.

...or something else, the choice is yours!

Take on the challenge this September to help us reach our vision for the UK to be the best place in the world for people with a learning disability to live happy and healthy lives. 💜

  • £100 could help provide access to sport and recreational activities so people with a learning disability can socialise and break the loneliness and isolation they face.
  • £250 could help us influence utility companies and banks so they provide vital information in a clear and simple way so people with a learning disability understand the impact the cost of living crisis will have on them.
  • £500 could help offer families an extra six Saturday clubs, opening up opportunities for learning and socialising on an ongoing basis and enabling us to reach children and families who are not accessing early intervention services at present.
  • £1,000 could help us campaign to ensure that those people with a learning disability who are eligible for social care are able to access the vital support that is available.
