This year's Project

Situated in one of the most seismically active areas on Earth, Nepal is at risk of a severe earthquake at any time. This is why this year’s concert will be raising funds to provide at least one Gurkha veteran or widow with an Earthquake-resilient Home to give them the security and shelter they deserve.

In 2015, the earthquake that devastated so many lives in Nepal also demonstrated the need for ensuring that our Gurkha veterans and widows had homes they could rely upon to protect them should the worst happen again.

The Trust rebuilt 1083 homes and repaired an additional 325 in the months that followed, and in 2018 we began our initiative to build further Earthquake-resilient Homes for the most vulnerable pensioners. These homes offer better protection should another earthquake hit the region, and also give security and peace of mind for some of our pensioners who may not have a space of their own.

This year we will build a further 75 homes, taking us through the milestone of 500 pre-emptive homes built since 2018. The homes also now feature an enhanced design which ensures they will continue to be fit for purpose and offer further benefits to our pensioners in their older years.
