Why wait for new year's resolutions? Embark on a virtual expedition across Lapland to raise money and help families unable to afford the essentials this Christmas. Take on the Lapland Step Challenge!

The Trussell Trust is on the search for explorers to take on the virtual 20Km trek up Mount Korvatunturi, Lapland. We challenge you to walk 2km (1.2 miles) each day for 10 days during December. That's just 10-15 minutes each day!

Log your miles on your fundraising page each day and watch your progress across Lapland and up the mountain on our virtual map.

When you reach your daily checkpoint you will receive your Christmas cracker email, with a joke, festive riddle, Christmas fact and a Christmas Cheer Challenge. Want to know the answer to your checkpoint riddle? Head out for your next 2km walk and you will receive the answer at your next checkpoint!

Hunger and poverty are huge problems in the UK. In fact, since 2015, the number of emergency food parcels that went to children has more than doubled, reaching almost a million earlier this year.

In the UK, more people than ever are having to cut back on the essentials, unable to afford the basic things we all need in life. And families with children are often at the forefront of this crisis, with food parcels for children increasing at double the rate for adults. Between 1 April to 30 September 2021, almost 2,000 parcels were provided for children every day, compared to almost 1,700 in 2019.   


That’s why we know it’s not enough just to provide food. We want to see a future free from hunger and the need for food banks. That’s why we fund wraparound advice and support for people who can’t afford the essentials – and campaign for the policy changes that would ensure everyone has enough money for those essentials in the future.

It's not always easy to find the time to step outside and get moving, but this festive season, head out outdoors with family, be active and raise money to help end the need for food banks in the UK.
