This September, walk, run, cycle, swim or paddle and help us collectively travel 3000 miles in solidarity with survivors of torture who have been forced to make long and often perilous journeys across land and sea to seek safety:

People like Joseph who was tortured so badly in Sudan for a crime that he didn’t commit that the police thought he was dead, and they threw his body in the street. He managed to flee for Libya, but unfortunately he was captured by local militia and forced to work as a slave. He managed to escape on a tiny boat with a few other refugees, each person taking turns to row across the Channel. No matter how tired and scared they were, they had to keep going. They had to reach safety.

Journeys in Solidarity is for anyone who wants to take on a challenge that suits their ability and fitness level to help give hope to survivors of torture

Choose one of 4 routes that represents a torture survivor’s journey to safety or choose your own. Cover the distance however and wherever you like over 30 days.

English Channel: 22 miles

Lviv, Ukraine to Poland: 40 miles

Aleppo, Syria, to Gaziantep, Turkey: 75 miles

Kabul, Afghanistan to Peshawar, Pakistan: 175 miles

You can also choose your own distance. Any challenge, big or small, is welcome. So whether you commit to swimming the distance of the channel, cycling the distance from Kabul to Pakistan or are taking a casual walk across a local park with your family, this is an incredible opportunity to get more involved with our work.

You can do it on your own, with your family, or in another group! You can even create a relay to cover a longer distance with each member of your team covering part of the distance. You can log your runs, walks, swims, or paddling to your fundraising page, manually or through Strava.

It costs just £8 to sign up, and you’ll be part of a community that believes every torture survivor deserves to live in safety. Every pound you raise will turn into vital support for people who’ve been forced to leave their homes behind.
