West Sussex Mind and Safe in Sussex have come together to organise a joint abseil event in collaboration with Hatt Adventures.

This event will take place on Saturday 7th October 2023 at Peacehaven Cliffs.

Are you up for an adrenaline rush? Want to tick an abseil off your bucket list or even conquer your fear of heights? Set yourself a personal challenge or simply do it for the thrill! Abseiling is great fun!

Peacehaven Cliffs is a perfect natural location for you to master a 90ft abseil, with unmissable views across the English channel and coastline.

The profits raised from registrations and all the fundraising income will be split equally between the two charities.

WEST SUSSEX MIND

West Sussex Mind is an independent local charity. We support people with their mental health, provide specialist training and campaign to improve services and promote understanding.

Our work is driven by the needs and experiences of people with mental health problems.

The advice and support we offer aims to improve people's physical and mental well-being, strengthen self-esteem and confidence and promote strong relationships with family, friends and communities. We also help people get into education, training or work and achieve their personal and social goals.

Increasing understanding about mental health is a priority for us so we run a comprehensive training programme for parents, carers and professionals. Our experts provide specialist training to professionals such as to those in education, GP practices and leisure centres as well as bespoke training to staff and managers in other organisations and companies.

We also work in communities to raise awareness and to tackle the stigma which continues to affect the lives of people with mental health problems.

We are an independent charity and receive no funding from the national Mind charity.

SAFE IN SUSSEX

Safe in Sussex is a local charity which provides a range of services for people experiencing or at risk of domestic abuse. The charity was founded in 1977 by a group of volunteers and has become established as the leading provider of refuge accommodation in West Sussex.   Domestic abuse takes on many forms and Safe in Sussex works in a trauma informed manner to support individual need.

Our services include safe supported accommodation for women, which also includes play-led therapeutic support for children affected by the trauma of domestic abuse.  We also provide an Outreach Service to all adult members of the community, recognising that domestic abuse can affect anyone.  In addition, we facilitate community groups which enable participants to explore and understand domestic abuse, help build their confidence and self-esteem, and empower them to seek a more secure future.

We are passionate at educating the community to help prevent and identify the signs of domestic abuse and how to access support.
