The Irish Doctors Orchestra (IDO) is looking forward to returning to the Ad Astra Hall in UCD on May 18th at 3.30pm to play a concert of popular music, including a selection from the beautiful Swan Lake and many other film classics. We are delighted to support St James’s Hospital Foundation on this occasion.

The IDO is a unique all-island fellowship of medical professionals who are also classically trained musicians. The concept of the IDO is to provide an opportunity for medics from across Ireland to get together and create music as a therapy against the stresses and challenges we all face in our professional lives.

All costs are all financed by the participating doctors which allows all proceeds from the concert to be donated to St James's Hospital Foundation.

This will be our sixth IDO event, having played previously in venues in Belfast, Limerick and Waterford. On this occasion we will be joined by Patrick Rafter, Kilkenny native and well-known violinist and conductor, who will conduct us. Our orchestra leader is Dr Conor Moloney, Limerick GP and TCD graduate, who had previously interned at St James Hospital. In addition to working doctors, our orchestra also includes medical students and retired doctors, many of whom have rotated through St James Hospital.

We hope to continue to foster connections between the arts and medicine and look forward to collaborating with St James's Hospital Foundation and Creative Life for this concert.
