Inverness Memorial Event with Butterfly Release 2025

The Anam Cara Fasgadh Annual Remembrance Event with Butterfly Release
This special event provides a unique opportunity for families bereaved through the death of a baby, child, or young person to come together in a shared space of understanding and empathy.
We warmly invite you to join us at Lochardil House Hotel, Stratherrick Road, Inverness, on Saturday 14th June 2025, for a heartfelt service of remembrance. During the event, each family will release a live butterfly (or butterflies) in memory of their loved ones.
When you arrive at our event at 12pm, you will be invited to visit our Memorial Tent. Here, you can pin a photo of your child to our remembrance tree and share your child’s name and story with our volunteers and other families. This space is a place of connection, reflection, and mutual support, honouring the memory of your precious child in a meaningful way.
Our butterflies are lovingly bred in sterile conditions by an award-winning entomologist who has been supporting charities since our co-founder, Susan Simpson, hosted the first butterfly release in 2013. Cared for by the expert team at Gribblybugs from the moment they were eggs, these butterflies symbolize hope and love.
When the time comes, your butterfly will be gently woken from its hibernation by the warmth of your hands, carrying with it the love and memories of your family as it takes to the wing.
Following the release, we invite you to join us for refreshments and fellowship.
We look forward to sharing this poignant day with you.
