MARINElife  are looking for volunteers who would like to participate in  surveys on the Newhaven to Dieppe ferry route and are based within travelling distance of Newhaven.

MARINElife have secured funding to cover the costs of training interested persons so this course is free of charge to participants.

The event is being run by experienced MARINElife research team leaders and will provide training on the identification of whales, dolphins and seabirds. The course will cover how to record scientific data when on land or at sea on ferries or other ‘vessels of opportunity’. Some experience of marine wildlife observation, particularly with whales, dolphins and seabirds would be an advantage but enthusiasm and willingness to get involved is also important! Should this be for you then the training will be complemented with more rigorous scientific training at sea under the guidance of an experienced team leader.

To comply with various legislation our training is for persons 18 years or older on 23rd March 2024. Please contact [email protected] if you have any queries.

*If circumstances arise which result in the need for MARINElife to cancel a course, due to an unforeseen occurrence or act of God. When this is the case MARINElife shall assume no liability.
