Ticket sales have now closed online for the Hoot Hike however you will still be able to sign up on the day. On the day registration will be open from 11:00 – 13:20 on the 19th of June outside Christchurch Mansion. Tickets will cost £5 per person with waves leaving at 11:30, 12:30 and 13:30 – please arrive at least 30 minutes before your chosen wave time to sign up at the on the day registration desk.
Join us for our first ever Hoot Hike sponsored walk to kick off our summer of fun when we bring The Big Hoot Art Trail to Ipswich. The Hoot Hike will take place on the 19th of June and will be your first chance to see the sculpture trail with lots of fun activities along the way.
The Hoot Hike will start in Christchurch Park where you will register and enjoy our event village filled with craft activities, food vendors and stallholders. You will then undertake your warm up and then set off with your wave around a handpicked 5km trail featuring a large selection of the sculptures, there will also be some surprises along the route to make your sponsored walk even more fun.
Registration will open at 11am and you will be required to arrive at least half an hour before your wave start time to sign in and get warmed up.
Tickets cost £5 (+ booking fee) and you can choose between the following three wave times:
- 11:30
- 12:30
- 13:30

How far is the route?
The route is 5km in total which is around 3.5 miles.
Can I run the route?
We recommend walking the route so that you can enjoy all the sculptures and fun things to do on route.
Where will the route take us?
The route will take you from Christchurch Park, through the centre of Ipswich with the route finishing in the cornhill by our Big Hoot HQ within the town hall.
Do I need to specify which wave I want to go in?
When you register, you will be asked which wave you want to set off with. Please choose from one of the following options:
11:30 Wave
12:30 Wave
13:30 Wave
Please arrive at least 30 minutes before your start time to register, collect your wristband and warm up.
How much does it cost to take part?
Tickets cost £5 (+ enthuse booking fee) per person.
Will there be parking?
We do not provide parking, but there are plenty of car parks and street parking around Christchurch Park and in the town centre.

Where do I go when I arrive?
We advise that you arrive 30 minutes before your wave sets off to give you plenty of time to register and warm up.
Registration and the start line are located near the mansion within Christchurch Park.
Are there any lockers/storage facilities to leave things at the start?
No, please ensure you keep valuables and monies safe at all times during the event. In no event shall St Elizabeth Hospice be liable for participants/spectators property.
Will there be toilets?
Toilet facilities are available at the park. There will also be portaloo’s available to use during the event.
Will it be safe?
St Elizabeth Hospice is working in conjunction with Ipswich Borough Council to ensure all aspects of the event are made safe. The hospice hires a medical crew who take care of the first aid provisions during the event.
TheHoot Hike is approximately 5km. It is not a race and is a non- competitive, non-timed event. Please wear sensible footwear.
Participants aged 18 years and under must take part alongside a paying adult and be accompanied throughout the event. School and youth groups who take part must have adequate supervision at all times.
On no account is alcohol to be brought into the event site or consumed during the event. St Elizabeth Hospice reserves the right to refuse entry to anyone under the influence of alcohol.
Is the route wheelchair and buggy friendly?
Yes it is. Those who are in wheelchairs or have buggies are welcome to take part. However due to the nature of the event, the location and some uneven terrain at Christchurch Park, we would advise to contact the hospice prior to booking for more details.

Will there be any refreshments?
Refreshments will be available to buy and you are welcome to bring along a picnic to enjoy and make a day of it.
Do I have to be fit?
No, this event is suitable for all ages and abilities.
How old do I need to be?
Anyone of any age can take part. Anyone under the age of 18 must include the name and authorisation of the parent/guardian who will be accompanying them on their registration form.

Can I Gift Aid my donation?
You can ask each person that sponsors you to Gift Aid their donation by ticking the Gift Aid box on your sponsor form, if they are a UK taxpayer or pay Capital Gains Tax. For every £1 they donate, we receive an extra 25p.
How do I hand in my sponsor money?
Please send cheques to: Hoot Hike Team, St Elizabeth Hospice, 565 Foxhall Road, Ipswich, IP3 8LX. Alternatively, you can bring the money in person to the Ipswich hospice.
If you have set up a Just Giving page, we automatically receive all donations made through the website, so you don't need to do anything!
Please do not bring sponsor money to the event.
Is there any other way I can support the event/hospice?
Please spread the word amongst your colleagues, family, friends and neighbours and get them signed up too!
