Are you ready to take on the biggest half marathon in the world?

On 8th September 2024 join tens of thousands of runners in the world-famous Great North Run, the most iconic half marathon in the world,  and support Freedom from Torture's vital work with survivors of torture. We ask that runners in this race fundraise a minimum of £350.

The route starts in central Newcastle and finishes near Souter Lighthouse in South Shields. You'll start your race by making your way across the Tyne Bridge and run on through Gateshead, cheered on by crowds of supporters and music.

When you see the sea glinting ahead of you, you'll know you’re on the final stretch towards the finish line at The Leas, South Shields, a two and a half mile stretch of magnesian limestone cliffs.

Previous runners for Freedom from Torture have loved running for FFT. Edward Towers, a runner for us in 2023, said "I felt like I was being supported by a community, with FFT cheering on the sidelines whilst I ran alongside other FFT runners." This could be you!
