Routes

We offer a range of routes for all ages and abilities.

  • The 25 miler is a strenuous route in amazing surroundings, requiring serious fitness preparation.
  • The 13 and 7 milers and the 10k, though less arduous, equally capture the wilderness atmosphere, and are suitable for most levels of fitness and ability.
  • The Limited Mobility routes are suitable for anyone who has mobility problems or a disability which prohibits them for taking part in the longer events.

Please check our website for additional information as to the suitability of these routes.

Places on the 25 mile run and walk are limited. If you find these sold out you can ask to go on a waiting list and when a place comes up we will email you. Or take a place on one of the 13 mile events this year and register early in 2025!

Whichever option you choose we hope the Challenge will be a wonderful experience for you and ultimately a rewarding one for our chosen charities.

Fundraising Pledge

The Great Wilderness Challenge is first and foremost a fundraising event.  We support Highland Hospice and other health and social care charities operating in the Highlands.

  • By submitting the entry form you pledge to raise sponsorship. Our target is a modest minimum of £100 per person. The average sum raised by participants in recent years has exceeded £300 per person.
  • All sponsorship raised by participants will be split between our nominated charities.  We regret we are unable to allow participants to raise money for any other charities.
  • Online fundraising pages will be set up as part of your online event registration process.  In addition, traditional sponsorship forms are available to download from our website.
  • As we are primarily a fundraising event please be aware that places in subsequent years will be offered firstly to those who have met or exceeded the fundraising target.

Rules of Entry

By submitting an entry form each entrant agrees to our Rules of Entry

Please note entry fees are non-refundable. In the event of cancellation by you or the organisers, your entry fee will be donated to our nominated charities.

If you have any problems registering online please email [email protected] for support.
