East Coast AC Terms of Membership:

I confirm that when running or training with, or engaging in any other activity with East Coast Athletic Club, I am responsible for my own safety and that of any third party, and I absolve East Coast Athletic Club of any responsibility on my behalf.

East Coast Athletic Club reserve the right to review and refuse membership of any individual at any given time.

Anti Bullying Policy:

We are committed to providing a caring, friendly and safe environment for all of our members so they can participate in a relaxed and secure atmosphere. Bullying of any kind is unacceptable at our club. If bullying does occur, all athletes or parents should be able to tell and know that incidents will be dealt with promptly and effectively. We are a TELLING club. This means that anyone who knows that bullying is happening is expected to tell the club welfare officer or any committee member.
East Coast Athletic Club have a responsibility to respond promptly and effectively to issues of bullying.
Any complaints regarding the behaviour of members should be detailed and submitted in writing to the Secretary ? unless the complaint is against the Secretary, in which case the complaint should be presented in writing to the Chairperson.
Bullying can be:
- Emotional being unfriendly, excluding, tormenting (e.g. threatening gestures)
- Physical pushing, kicking, hitting, punching or any use of violence
- Racist racial taunts, graffiti, gestures
- Sexual unwanted physical contact or sexually abusive comments
- Homophobic because of, or focussing on the issue of sexuality
- Verbal name-calling, sarcasm, spreading rumours, teasing
- Cyber - All areas of internet ,such as email & internet chat room misuse; Mobile threats by text messaging & calls; Misuse of associated technology (i.e. camera & video facilities).
All club members, coaches and volunteers and parents should have an understanding of what bullying is.
As a club we take bullying seriously. Athletes and parents should be assured that they would be supported if bullying is reported.
East Coast AC will not tolerate any form of bullying. If bullying has, in the view of the officials, taken place, the individual may be disciplined or excluded from the club.

Social Media Policy:

This policy governs the publication of and commentary on social media by members of East Coast Athletic Club.
For the purposes of this policy, social media means any facility for online publication and commentary, including without limitation blogs, wiki's, social networking sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Flickr, and YouTube. This policy is in addition to and complements any existing or future policies regarding the use of technology, computers, e-mail and the internet.
Club members are free to publish or comment via social media in accordance with this policy.
Publication and commentary on social media carries similar obligations to any other kind of publication or commentary. All uses of social media must follow the same ethical standards that the Club must otherwise follow.

Don't Tell Secrets:
It's perfectly acceptable to talk about your Club and have a dialog with the community, but it's not okay to publish confidential information. Confidential information includes things such as unpublished details about our financial information, upcoming events, membership, research, and Club secrets.

Be Honest:
Do not blog anonymously, using pseudonyms or false screen names. We believe in transparency and honesty. Use your real name, be clear who you are. Nothing gains you notice in social media more than honesty - or dishonesty. Do not say anything that is dishonest, untrue, or misleading. If you have a vested interest in something you are discussing, point it out. But also be smart about protecting yourself and your privacy. What you publish will be around for a long time, so consider the content carefully and also be cautious about disclosing personal details.

Respect copyright laws:
It is critical that you show proper respect for the laws governing copyright and fair use or fair dealing of copyrighted material owned by others; including the Clubs own copyrights and brands. You should never quote more than short excerpts of someone else's work, and always attribute such work to the original author/source. It is good general practice to link to others' work rather than reproduce it.

Controversial Issues:
If you see misrepresentations made about the Club in the media, you may point that out. Always do so with respect and with the facts. If you speak about others, make sure what you say is factual and that it does not disparage that party. Avoid arguments. Brawls may earn traffic, but nobody wins in the end. Don't try to settle scores or goad competitors or others into inflammatory debates. Make sure what you are saying is factually correct.

Enforcement:
Policy violations will be subject to the East Coast Athletic Club's disciplinary action, up to and including termination for cause.

East Coast Athletic Club reserve the right to remove any posts or comments by members on their social media sites.
