Demand avoidant traits can be a trait for some children and young adults on the autism spectrum. Due to the high levels of stress that any demand made (even those that they put on themselves), managing daily activities, tasks and settings can be extremely difficult and overwhelming for the child and adults.

What makes it more difficult is that some of the usual strategies associated with autism spectrum conditions may not work and cause further anxiety.

We are running two workshop sessions that aim to help parents and carers by expanding their understanding of demand avoidance, the reasons behind the behaviour and providing relevant strategies for a child or young adult that has a demand avoidant profile.

The session will include:

  • What is demand avoidance
  • Why some people may be demand avoidant
  • What may be difficult for a child who is demand avoidant
  • Helpful tips and strategies

Please sign up for the workshop on either 9th September, 10.30am-12.30pm or 24th October, 7.00pm-9.00pm.
