Dartmoor Yomp and Sportive 2026

10th, 11th & 12th of July

10th - Arrive at 42 Commando, Pay as You Dine meals available in the Galley. Camping opens.

 

11th - Challenges start, Yomp, Run, Cycle & Motorbike Ride Out. Breakfast PAYD will be available in the Galley. Evening meal (covered in registration fee) hosted in the Sergeants Mess for participants and supporters.

 

12th - Breakfast PAYD available in the Galley. Camping closes. 

 

The Dartmoor Yomp has been running since 2008 in various formats, using Bickleigh Barracks the home of 42 Commando RM, in all but one year since, for camping, eating, socialising and a base for the event. Supporting RMA-The Royal Marines Charity, the Yomp has raised in excess of £60,000.00 since its conception.

 

We have reduced the registration cost and we are asking participants to aim to raise £80 each to mark the 80th anniversary of the RMA.

 

Yomp - 6 miles or 12.5 miles

Run - 12.5 miles

Sportive (cycle) - 45 or 80 miles

Ride Out - RMA Riders Branch

 

The yomp will cover 6 miles or 12.5 miles over tracks, through woodland, along river banks, open moorland and rocky tors; with fantastic panoramic views from moor to sea; starting and finishing at Bickleigh.

 

Taking part and yomping together are serving and retired Royal Marines, their families, dogs and friends, plus local Royal Marines cadets who Yomp and help with the running of the weekend.

 

The Royal Marines Association Cycle Club run a Sportive offering two distances for those that would like to cycle.

 

Supporters are welcome to attend, and join participants for the evening meal held in the Sergeants Mess on Saturday. 

 

Camping is available. (must be booked at registration)

 

PAYD meals are also available for the whole event, but we need numbers to ensure the Galley is stocked. 

 

Dogs are welcome - but you must have up to date vaccination and public liability insurance.
