Challenge 31 is a month-long challenge to get you physically and mentally active throughout October, as the nights draw in and the days get shorter. It doesn’t matter what you do, as long as you do something every day for the whole month. It can be something physical, like going for a walk or a run, or it can be something more psychological, such as giving up smoking or drinking. The choice is yours!

Challenge 31 was devised by Andy Garthwaite and has now become an annual event. In September 2010, while serving in Afghanistan, Andy was involved in a major incident; Andy lost his right arm at the shoulder after being hit by a rocket-propelled grenade.

Andy was helped by our charity during his immediate recovery and we have been there to support him ever since. Now, he is one of the few people in the world to have a bionic prosthetic arm powered by his brain.

There are no fundraising targets (although we would greatly appreciate additional fundraising!), all you need to do is to pay the £20.00 registration fee (which is just as much as an incentive for you to keep on track!) and choose your own activity or target. You will have the option to set up a fundraising page after you have registered.

If you do embark upon physical challenges, be sure to look after yourself. While daily exercise is encouraged, be careful not to risk injury through repetition of demanding activities. Unless you are a serious ultra-runner, your body may not thank you for attempting 31 consecutive marathons!
