Catheterisation - Insertion of Urinary Indwelling Catheters

Wednesday 15th July 2026, 9.30am – 1pm  

 

A 3.5 hour workshop aimed at registered nurses, looking for a refresher or introduction to the skills needed to safely insert & care for urinary catheters. Assist in the prevention of infection. The promotion of comfort & well-being in cared for individuals, predominantly those nearing the end of their lives.

This workshop will cover:

·        Knowledge & understanding of the female & male urinary system anatomy & physiology

·        Knowledge of different types of indwelling urinary catheters & the rationale for insertion & removal

·        Demonstrate safe & effective male & female urinary catheter insertion using ANTT

·        Discuss best practice for catheter care & maintenance techniques

·        Recognise the risks & signs of catheter-associated complications & take appropriate action

 

After attending the session, you will receive a certificate of attendance, which will include the allocated CPD hours.
