Candlelit Remembrance Walk
Saturday, 30 March 2024, 19:00
We will once again be holding our annual Candlelit Remembrance Walk to mark Evie's birthday and remember all her angel friends.
The event is a beautiful, poignant evening during which we walk a trail through Whinlatter forest, lit with green glowing lights, which lead us to an opening in the woods. Here we spend time reflecting and remembering our little ones who are no longer with us.
We would love to have you join us for the event to remember your baby, a family member, or to help us remember Evie and her angel friends who are no longer with us. We would also be incredibly proud to remember your baby at the event even if you can't be there with us. Each year we remember lots of babies from around the world in what is a very moving event.
During the reflective time in the forest each babies name is read out and we spend a moment thinking about them - it is both an emotional and uplifting evening which we know means a lot to the families who attend, and to those who have their babies remembered.
The event runs as follows:
7pm - The event begins with us all meeting in Cafe Ambio - which is opened especially for the event. This is a chance for everyone to meet up, have a hot drink and be given their balloons for the walk*
(the following times are approximate)
7.45pm - We leave the cafe and head through the forest, our path lit up with green glow sticks, towards the viewpoint. The walk is approximately 500m and on an incline.
8.15pm - We will gather for our reflection - this is where we spend some time thinking about the babies we are remembering, with each ones name read out and their named lantern being lit up.
We will then head back down to Cafe Ambio for another hot drink and cake to warm up - you can head back to the cafe in your own time. Some people like to spend a little while at the viewpoint in the quiet, some like to leave soon after the reflection.
9.30pm - The event will finish - but you are free to leave when you feel you would like to, it is an emotional event and some people may wish to leave rather than head back to the cafe - this is fine.
It is really easy to sign up for your place at this year's event, or for your baby to remembered, by using the options at the bottom of the page.
The event is free of charge and everyone who attends will receive a special gift bag from the evening.
Please note: this event is to remember babies lost during pregnancy, at birth, in infancy and childhood up to the age of 18.
Please note: no balloons or lanterns are released as part of this event
