Start 2025 in the most tree-mendous way possible by recycling your Christmas Tree with Heart of Kent Hospice!

UPDATE: We added a collection day on Wednesday 8 January - Book in your tree for collection before 11:59pm on Sunday 5 January! If registrations are not available below, please call 07596 856661.

Our volunteer team brave the pine needles and the cold to collect your real (spruce, fir or pine) trees over three days on Friday 3, Saturday 4, Sunday 5 January 2025 and Wednesday 8 January from your front garden or driveway, allowing you to stay cosy and warm indoors.

We will collect Christmas trees from the following postcodes and areas: ME5 9, ME6 5, ME14, ME15, ME16, ME17 3, ME17 4, ME18, ME19, ME20, TN12 5, TN15 7, TN15 8, TN15 9, Shipbourne, Plaxtol, Hadlow, Hale Street, Burham, Wouldham.

We kindly ask for a suggested donation of £15 per tree to continue providing exceptional specialist care for people with terminal illnesses.

Have a hassle-free, environmentally friendly festive season – and recycle your tree with Heart of Kent Hospice this January!

Why your donation today matters:

£ 15 - Could go towards the costs for a specialist palliative care nurse to make a reassuring call to a patient

£ 25 - Could help provide counselling to a family member who is overwhelmed by grief and struggling to cope

£ 40
- Could provide tempting meals for someone in the Inpatient Unit on Christmas Day

£ 100
- Could go towards the cost of a home visit from a specialist Hospice nurse – helping them to remain at home where they feel safe and loved this Christmas

Frequently Asked Questions

Please read on to find answers to all of our most popular queries for our Christmas tree recycling campaign:

How much should I donate?
You can choose how much you would like to donate! We ask for a suggested minimum donation of £15 per tree so that Heart of Kent Hospice can continue to provide specialist care to people and their loved ones with a terminal illness.

I have just booked my collection, what happens next?
Thank you for choosing to support us. We will be in contact after registrations close with your specific date so that you can prepare accordingly (although we advise that you have your tree dismantled and ready before 8 am Friday 3 January!). Our collection window is 3-5 January between 8am-5pm.

What if my tree is missed?
If your tree has not been collected by 5 pm Sunday 5 January please let us know by contacting [email protected] or by calling 07596 856661.  The deadline for notification of non-collection is 9 am Tuesday 7 January.

My tree is +7ft/wider than 4ft
All trees over 7ft tall or 4ft wide will need to be chopped into manageable pieces before collection.  Please confirm you are happy do to this when booking your collection (available through our booking form.)

My postcode isn't listed?
We are unable to collect outside of the listed postcodes. Our team are expanding our collection zone each year, so please let us know where you're based using our 'not in our collection area?' form on our events page.

Can I recycle more than one tree?
Of course! Please add each tree to the order (you can book them individually per the registration form) and place them together upon collection. Please remember that we kindly request a donation of £15 per tree.

Where will my recycled tree go?
We are pleased to partner with National Trust Ightham Mote and Gallaghers to recycle your trees this winter. All trees collected will be chipped throughout the weekend and redistributed on their sites. Last year, Ightham Mote was able to use the chippings to boost biodiversity on their land and at their local forest school.

Do I need to be at home for my tree to be collected?
You do not need to be present at the time of the collection. Please ensure that your tree is out and ready for collection in the pre-agreed place before you leave. If you find that your tree has not been collected when you return, please let us know.

My tree has disappeared before our collection was due!
Sometimes the local bin teams beat us to it. We always endeavour to provide a quick and efficient recycling service however, some collection dates clash with our event. If you find your tree has already disappeared please contact us so that we can remove you from our route.

When do bookings close?
Registrations for tree collections will close at 11:59pm on Wednesday 1st December. Late booking slots will close on 11:59pm on Sunday 5th January 2025.

What if the weather is really bad?
In the event of adverse weather conditions/ circumstances beyond our control, the dates of the collection cannot be changed. We will only collect if it is safe to do so. If it's windy, please anchor trees visibly close to your collection point! Weather-related cancellations will not be refunded.

We're a local business, can we help with Christmas tree recycling collections?
We are always on the lookout for local businesses to support us! Please email [email protected] to find out how you can get involved this January and support Heart of Kent Hospice in the future.
