Walk the distance between each of our nine hospitals in your own time, at your own pace and raise vital funds for our hospitals. Our fundraising team will be there to support you every step of the way!

Suitable for all abilities, we have two great routes to choose from, covering the distance between all the hospitals we support in the heart of Bristol. Once signed up, we will send you a downloadable map to guide you on your hike, or alternatively you can walk the equivalent distance on a route of your choice.

 The routes:

  • The Bristol Hospital Hike: 2 miles

This family friendly trail covers the distance between our hospitals in Bristol city centre. This is a great opportunity to get active with your family, friends or your four-legged furry companions while raising money for your local hospitals.

  • The Big Bristol Hospital Hike: 10 miles

Hike the virtual trail across the centre of Bristol, the iconic harbourside, through the scenic green spaces in south Bristol and the artistic streets of Southville, while passing nine of the hospitals we support along the way.

Take on this challenge individually or as a relay with your friends, family or work colleagues to collectively complete the distance.

Will you go the extra mile for your NHS heroes?

When you register for the walk a fundraising page will automatically be created for you to share with friends and family. You can also raise money on your sponsored walk with a sponsorship form we’ll send in our fundraising pack. After your event you can pay in any offline funds raised on the day.

Who will you walk for?

The Bristol Hospital Hike is a wonderful way to walk in memory of a loved one, to celebrate the work of the NHS or to say thank you for the care you received. After signing up we will send you a sticker which you can wear on the day to let everyone know who you are walking for.

FAQs

When is the Hospital Hike?

Take on the Hospital Hike from 23 August, with the event running all through September. You can take part in the virtual event on any day, at any time that works for you.

How much does it cost?

It costs £5 to take part for either an individual or family sign up. Once you’re signed up, we will send you a downloadable map, 'I'm walking for' sticker, welcome pack and discounts off merchandise in our shop.

How much do I need to fundraise?

There is no minimum sponsorship, which means you can raise as much as you want for your hospitals with no pressure! Some of the projects your fundraising could support are:

£30 could pay for a nurse who has worked through the pandemic to have a counselling session.

£50 could pay for materials for parents to make prints of their baby’s hands and feet while they spend time in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

£100 could go towards a transportable sensory unit for young patients with additional needs.
