Take on your own In Memory Walk and make a difference for people with dementia at Great Western Hospital

At a venue, date and time of your choice from 1 March to 31 December 2021

We are delighted to launch our first annual Brighter Futures In Memory Walk which is raising money for our Dementia Appeal.

You can walk any distance you would like and on any day up until 31 December 2021.  All participants will receive a Brighter Futures In Memory Pin Badge as a souvenir.  (Pin badges will be sent from 1 April.)

Entry Fees are £10 for adults and £5 for children (under 16 years of age)

We ask you try to raise £20 each. If you don't wish to fundraise, you can make a donation at the payment screen when entering to support the appeal.

The money raised by entry fees and sponsorship will go directly towards supporting our dementia care here at Great Western Hospital.  We are currently fundraising to replace all the clocks around the hospital with dementia friendly clocks.  The clocks will support with familiarity and display information that is easier to interpret - often, patients with dementia can get easily confused and do not always recognise where they are or what time it is, so these clocks will really help those staying or moving around the hospital.  We need 143 large dementia clocks that cost £115 each and 280 small dementia clocks at £40.

Not sure where to do your walk?  There are lots of lovely parks around Swindon but choose a walk that means something to you and perhaps holds a special memory. Choose a walk you will enjoy and include your dog(s).   Please be sure to follow the latest COVID-19 government guidance when completing and planning your walk.

We would love to see your photographs of your walk if you wish to share them.

Wherever and whenever you do you’re in memory walk, thank you for supporting the Brighter Futures Dementia Appeal.
