Rape Crisis Midwest has been supporting survivors of sexual violence in the Midwest since 1980. Over the past 11 years, since 2015,  Rape Crisis Midwest have been delivering this event in association with our partners in Limerick Kayak Academy. The event is not only an opportunity for participants to raise funds on behalf of Rape Crisis Midwest but is an opportunity to spend the day with a group of likeminded people that recognize the importance of supporting survivors of sexual violence and the need for services such as Rape Crisis Midwest.

The services provided to survivors of sexual violence by Rape Crisis Midwest aim to support each person on their healing journey, and as with any journey there are ebbs and flows,  much like the journey down the Shannon River on the day of the event. At each stage of the survivor's journey Rape Crisis Midwest is there, to support the ebb and flow of that journey, to champion the survivor and to empower the survivor to lean into their own healing in their own unique way when they are ready to do so. 

If you would like to sign up for the event - please purchase tickets below - the event will run on Saturday August 22nd 2026. Every participant will also be provided with an individual fundraising page to raise vital funds for Rape Crisis Midwest services.

There are three types of tickets available to suit all people. For those more experienced kayakers, we have a bring your own kayak and safety equipment ticket, which covers the ticket for the event.

The second ticket is for those that want to rent the kayak and equipment for the event.

For those that want to learn a little more about kayaking, our partners in Limerick Kayak Academy will be running a introductory course in kayaking in the run up to the event where people can learn some kayaking skills and participate in the event. The introductory course will take place over 2 weekends in August - dates TBC -  from 10am to 2pm. Limerick Kayak Academy will contact you directly to confirm attendance once the ticket is purchased.
