The Hoot Hike is a 5km challenge featuring a large selection of the sculptures from the Big Hoot Art Trail.

If you missed the Hoot Hike opening event and would still like to do the challenge, you now have the opportunity to do so. Once you register to do the 5k route, you will be sent a challenge pack that gives you:

A Big Hoot sponsor form

Some activity sheets

The first 100 people to sign up, will receive a special edition Big Hoot pedometer with their pack. ( This is restricted to one per household)

You can then pick a date to do the Hike when you like between

14th July - 3rd September 2022

 

There is no fee to sign up, however to receive a finisher medal and certificate, you must inform the team you have completed the walk and the hospice must have a record of some fundraising activity for the challenge.

How far is the route?

The route is approx 5km in total which is around 3.5 miles.

Can I run the route?

We recommend walking the route so that you can enjoy all the sculptures and fun things to do on route, however it is your choice.

Where will the route take us?

The route will take you from Christchurch Park, through the centre of Ipswich with the route finishing in the cornhill by our Big Hoot HQ within the town hall.

How much does it cost to take part?

Entry is free

When will I receive the challenge pack?

You should receive the challenge pack within a few days of registering. 

What do I need to do to receive the medal/s?

Once you have completed your challenge, please email [email protected] to inform them. Please note: you must have some fundraising or a donation on your record for the challenge to receive the medal/s. 

Is there a certain amount I need to raise to receive a medal?

There isnt a certain amount, however we encourage you to raise what you can for the hospice. 

Where can I park?

We do not provide parking, but there are plenty of car parks and street parking around Christchurch Park and in the town centre.

Is the route wheelchair and buggy friendly?

Yes it is. Those who are in wheelchairs or have buggies are welcome to take part.

Do I have to be fit?

No, this event is suitable for all ages and abilities.

How old do I need to be?

Anyone of any age can take part. However anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult

Can I Gift Aid my donation?

You can ask each person that sponsors you to Gift Aid their donation by ticking the Gift Aid box on your sponsor form, if they are a UK taxpayer or pay Capital Gains Tax. For every £1 they donate, we receive an extra 25p.

How do I hand in my sponsor money?

Please send cheques to: Events Team, St Elizabeth Hospice, 565 Foxhall Road, Ipswich, IP3 8LX. Alternatively, you can bring the money in person to the Ipswich hospice.

If you have set up a Giving page, we automatically receive all donations made through the website, so you don't need to do anything!

Is there any other way I can support the event/hospice?
