The 2023 Sofi Malt Hawassa Half Marathon takes place in Hawassa on Sunday 12th February 2023. This is the 11th staging of the event which comprises a Half Marathon, a 8km run, and children's races. This page is for entry into the Half Marathon.
Hawassa, a beautiful lakeside town on the shores of Lake Hawassa, is situated 275km south of Ethiopia's capital Addis Ababa at an altitude of 1700m above sea level. Participants will run on a new scenic course which starts near to the city airport and runs along the shores of Lake Hawassa.
The event also gives participants the opportunity to stay on the lakeshore at Haile Resort Hotel owned by Haile Gebrselassie. Haile has been present at all the previous editions of the event and we expect him at this year’s event. Rooms fill up quickly and participants are advised to make bookings early. Temperatures in Hawassa in February tend to rise to around 30C in the middle of the day but are at around 10-15C in the early morning when the half-marathon starts.
Registration fee is 70GBP that includes entry to race and pre race pasta party at official race hotel on eve of the race.
