On Saturday the 20th of May, we will once again be taking to the saddle for the 2017 Wicklow Mountains Cycle Challenge

Following on from the success of last years’ event, the cycle will start and finish in the stunning grounds of Russborough House, Co. Wicklow and you will have 2 routes to choose from. 

50km – The shorter of the 2 routes, the 50km route brings cyclists on a beautiful tour of Blessington Lakes before returning back to Russborough House. 

100km – This is a much more challenging route and takes cyclists up some of the best climbs in the Garden County including, Sally Gap, Shay Elliott & Slieve Maan. You will certainly deserve your burger at the end of it! 

Whether you choose the 50km or the 100km, you can be assured that you will enjoy some of the most picturesque countryside that Wicklow has to offer. 

Registration costs €50 and all participants will receive a souvenir event jersey and access to the post event BBQ.

All proceeds from the 2017 Wicklow Mountains Cycle Challenge will go directly to the Physiotherapy Fund here at St James’s Hospital. 

The St James’s Hospital Physiotherapy team deliver over 97,000 treatment sessions to over 15,000 new patients every year

They work tirelessly to support patients across all areas of the Hospital. 

These areas include:

    • Care of the Elderly
    • Stroke
    • Burns
    • Intensive Care
    • Cardiac & Lung surgeries
    • Neurology
    • Multiple Sclerosis
    • Orthopaedics
    • Rheumatology 

The service is continually in need of new equipment and with the funding from the 2017 Wicklow Mountains Cycle Challenge, the physiotherapists will be able to provide some much needed equipment for the patients that attend these programmes annually.
