On Saturday 19th September, you are invited to join us lighting up Winchester purple as Winchester Hospice celebrates it's 5th anniversary and the local community comes together to walk in memory of loved ones.

We encourage you to put together your best purple ensemble and undertake this 7km walk to raise vital funds for Winchester Hospice. This year, there will be a few additional surprises and moments to reflect on those the hospice has cared for over the past 5 years. The route will start and finish in Abbey Gardens, where you will receive a medal for completing the walk.

As as fundraising event, we are encouraging everyone taking part to raise a minimum of £25.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I sign up?

Choose if you are starting a team, joining a team or registering as an individual. Then, you will be taken through to select your tickets, purchase merchandise and have your fundraising page set up, which you can personalise!

How can we take part as a family but only have one fundraising page?

Select the 'Register (no team)' option, this will let you purchase tickets for your family but only set up one fundrasing page. If you were to register as a team you would need to provide a unique email address for each family member.

Can I take part as a team?

Of course! if you're the first of your teammates, select 'Create a new team' - you will then be able to set the team name and input your teammates email address to invite them to join! If you don't include everyone when your first set the team up, do not worry. They can join by selecting the 'Join a Team' option and typing in your team's name. You will all have your own individual fundraising pages, aswell as the overarching Team page.

How do I receive donations?

You will be set up with a fundraising page which you can personalise - we recommend adding a photo and story about why you have chosen to take part and fundraise. There will be a link and QR on your page which is easy to share wilth friends and family who want to support you! 

What should I wear?

A good pair of trainers or walking boots are advised, as the route is a mixture of pavement and track. We are lighting up Winchester purple so put together your best purple outfit - you can purchase our event t-shirt and accessories when you buy your tickets.

Do I need to bring anything?

You might want to bring a bottle of water with you and a torch for darker sections. If you're hoping to purchase merchandise at the start, both cash and card payments are accepted.

What measures are in place to ensure my safety?

There will be several marshals at various points throughout the walk, as well as marshals leading and backing the walk to ensure everyone reaches the finish line safely. Please listen to their instructions.

Can children take part?

Yes, we have tickets for children! They must be accompanied by an adult participant (18+) at all times.

Will there be photography?

Photography will be taking place; by taking part you consent to your photo being taken as part of the event (which may be shared online and/or with local media). If you do not wish to have your photo taken, please let us know and we can ensure our photographers are aware on the night so your image is not included in any of our publicity.

Where does the walk start from?

This year, the walk starts from and finishes at Abbey Garden at the bottom of the High Steet. Registration is from 6:30pm, with the walk starting at 7:30pm.

Can I park nearby?

Chesil Street Multistory Car Park is an eight minute walk to the start at Abbey Gardens and it has free parking after 6pm.
