This is our flagship event with motorcyclists leaving South Stack Lighthouse at Holyhead at sunset (about 9.40 pm) and riding through the night to get to Skegness for Sunrise (about 4.30 am). The event is held over the weekend closest to the shortest night of the year. So far we’ve raised over £120,000 for Macmillan to help people living with cancer. The event is now in its twelfth year and has a number of return riders who have taken part for many years.

It’s a very friendly atmosphere and the ride is fully marshalled, with organised fuel and rest stops throughout the night. We stay off motorways, to make it more interesting, and the support we get at silly o’clock in the morning is incredible. There are not many events that the Mayor of Skegness gets up at 3am for.

You can help us raise more money for people living with cancer by getting sponsorship from family, friends and work colleagues. You’ll be encouraged to set up a fundraising page after registering. If you’ve already registered, set up a fundraising page here. We can also email a sponsorship form at your request.

So, it’s overnight, on the shortest night of the year, it’s 257 miles, it might be cool, it might be wet but it wouldn’t be worth doing if it wasn’t a challenge, right?
